Region IX includes Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, and the Pacific Islands. In 2014, FEMA gave a $399,999 grant to Guam for pre-disaster mitigation. FEMA's Pre-Disaster Mitigation Grant Program provides funds for hazard mitigation planning and projects to reduce overall risk to the population and structures from future hazard events, while also reducing reliance on Federal funding in future disasters.
