About the Data: Corporate Giving

Data on corporate giving were gathered from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Corporate Citizenship Center Corporate Disaster Aid Tracker and from Foundation Center. In both cases, these figures often represent information available from press releases, websites, and voluntary reporting by corporations themselves.

Because there is currently no comprehensive method to track corporate giving, the figures presented in this report are for descriptive purposes only and do not represent trends or totals for corporate giving at large. When possible, Foundation Center verifies that pledged commitments were paid, but much of the data are based on self-report by corporations and difficult to verify independently. For this reason, we do not provide lists of top donors and top recipients. Analysis also excludes giving by corporate foundations.
