Is There an Uneven Administration of Justice for Native Hawaiians in Hawai’i?

Information and Testimony Recieved by the Hawai'i Advisory Comittee from numerous sources, including official of the state's criminal justice system show a serious disparity affecting Native Hawaiians in the State's Criminal Justice System. Though native Hawaiians comprise approximately 20% of the State's population, they comprise roughly 40% of the state's prison populatio. The reason for the disparity, however, are complex and have seemed intractable for a number of decades. The report outlines some of these factors through expert briefings and testimony.
