Tribal communities in Montana receive more than $2.6 million in COVID-19 relief

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on Tuesday awarded more than $52 million in COVID-19 relief to 49 tribal communities, including the Chippewa Cree Tribe and Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes in Montana.
The Chippewa Cree Tribe will receive $907,275 to improve their water system, which should improve access to treated, portable water, and the Salish and Kootenai Housing Authority will receive $1.7 million to build seven one-bedroom homes to address a housing shortage.
