The Nez Perce Tribe has received a $100,000 grant from the Environmental Protection Agency for a water quality improvement project in the headwaters of the lower Lapwai Creek watershed.
The project will create about 14 new acres of riparian habitat along a heavily degraded stream and construct imitation beaver dams throughout the project area to spread and slow streamflow during high runoff events, reconnect flood plains to streams and improve habitat quality.
