Michigan tribe gets $2M grant for manufacturing center
SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. (AP) — A Michigan-based Native American tribe is receiving $2 million in federal funds to help build a manufacturing and warehouse facility.
U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross announced the grant Tuesday for the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. It will be matched with $350,000 in local funding.
Officials say the Upper Peninsula tribe will own the 20,000-square-foot (1,858-square meter) center. It will serve existing tribal manufacturers and entrepreneurs while
