Lower Brule Sioux Tribe asks judge to force Bureau of Indian Affairs to release seized money

The Lower Brule Sioux Tribe is asking a federal judge to stop the Bureau of Indian Affairs and other federal entities from seizing money from the tribe, following a dispute about accounting practices and the use of taxpayer dollars.
In its request for an injunction and declaratory relief, which was filed in federal district court Friday in South Dakota, the tribe said the federal government is driving the tribe "dangerously close to insolvency."
