Kitsap tribes use COVID-19 relief funds to build housing, improve infrastructure

Kitsap's two tribal governments are using millions of dollars in federal COVID-19 relief funding to build more affordable housing for tribal members and add infrastructure — including high-speed internet — on their land.
The Suquamish Tribe received over $28.6 million dollars and the Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe obtained roughly $17.7 million from the Department of Treasury in Fiscal Year 2021, according to USAspending.gov, the official source for spending data by the U.S. government.
