Flathead Nation contributes more than bison to the Rocky Boys Reservation

In 1908, under the administration of President Theodore Roosevelt the National Bison Range on established on 18,800 acres in the heart of the Flathead Indian Reservation. It was stocked with portions of the Michel Pablo and Charles Allard bison herd that had been sold the Canadian government’s wildlife management entity a few years earlier. The herd was estimated to be more than 700 that free ranged on the open land on the Flathead Reservation.
