Russian-American Company forces medical treatment on Alaska Native women

Russian traders had forced Alaska Native women into prostitution. When syphilis spreads in the New Archangel and Kodiak region, the Russian-American Company forces Alaska Native women to undergo treatment in order to prevent transmission of syphilis to Russian traders (Native Voices, "1842–50s: Russian-American Company compels medical treatment of Native women").
