Colonel Nelson Miles continues the campaign to hunt down and round up bands of Lakota to take them to reservation encampments. Crazy Horse leads 900 of his band of Oglala into the Red Cloud Agency in 1877 where, four months later, he is asked to meet with General Cook for a friendly meeting, but instead is captured and, upon his resistance, is bayoneted to death by a Native man in a police uniform. Sitting Bull refuses to surrender and leads his band of Hunkpapa to Canada (Nies, 1996).
