Kinzua Dam is completed and destroys Seneca lands and burial sites
The flooding of traditional lands to which the Seneca are entitled in perpetuity through treaty are destroyed, and the burial site of Cornplanter, a Seneca leader who negotiated the treaty, is flooded and sits under the floodwaters (Nies 1996).
