In violation of Cherokee treaties, thousands of American settlers invade and trespass onto Cherokee lands. Georgia state officials support the trespassers and pass a state law outlawing Cherokee from mining for gold in their own lands or having an ability to testify against any White man in state courts (Nies, 1996).
