Local Native American tribe receives $25,000 grant for Hurricane Ida recovery

A Native American tribe in Terrebonne Parish has received a $25,000 grant to help members recover from Hurricane Ida.
Chief Shirell Parfait-Dardar of the Grand Caillou-Dulac Band of Biloxi-Chitimacha-Choctaw Indians received the grant Wednesday in Houma.
The grant was initially intended to help restore the Prevost Cemetery in Dulac, where many tribal ancestors are buried. But the cemetery sustained minimal minimal damage from the storm, and donors agreed the tribe's immediate needs are more pres...
