In lands still controlled by the Spanish, U.S. forces launch an attack and burn and destroy villages in Seminole territory. Osceola, a teenager, is part of the resistance movement, which fights back against Jackson. U.S. forces have two motives: to remove Seminole from their lands, while also forcing Spain to cede these lands to the U.S. (Nies, 1996).
