The U.S. “purchases” Louisiana from France. Indians of Louisiana now must contend with U.S.-imposed settler colonial claims and jurisdiction, causing major tensions between the U.S. and southeastern tribes. Moreover, this “purchase” nearly doubles the size of the U.S. and accelerates westward invasion into southeastern territories by American settlers.
