Natchez revolt against the French on lower Mississippi River
The Natchez resist French attempts to tax and confiscate Natchez lands, leading to a series of rebellions. The French vow extermination and, with allied Choctaws, capture the sacred Chieftain, one of the last major leaders of the Moundbuilder Chiefdoms, as well as 480 Natchez, who are then sold into slavery in the Caribbean (Nies, 1996).
