Massachusetts puts scalping bounty on Native families

The Massachusetts Bay Colony calls for Native scalps during Father Rale’s War (also called the Dummer's War or the Wabanaki-New England War), a series of battles between New England and the Wabanaki Confederacy (Mi'kmaq, Maliseet, and Abenaki), allies of New France. During this period, Ranger John Lovewell is well known for his scalp-hunting expeditions throughout New Hampshire (O'Toole, 2005).
